Betty’s illustrations are introspective reflections on identity, self-perception, and emotion, expressed through bold colours, characters, and intricate patterns. Deeply inspired by traditional Chinese art, she reinterprets its essence with a contemporary flair, telling stories that feel both personal and rooted in culture.

Super Duper! Mediocre is all about embracing life’s inevitable negative emotions with humour and charm. Through sad and angsty faces, these relatable feelings are turned into playful characters that remind us it’s okay to not always be okay.

Both creations come from the same person, Betty, a multidisciplinary artist based in Malaysia, expressing different sides of her practice as she grows from graphic designer into illustrator.
